We are excited to announce that the Vikings are joining us at this year’s Festival with the most exciting programme schedule to date!

This year will see up to 50 Vikings descend on Portsoy on Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd June.

Viking Parade – Saturday 22nd June, 2pm at The Wally Green

A Viking Parade including Portsoy Pipe Band will take place on Saturday, leaving the Wally Green at 2pm, parading through the Festival area to the New Harbour.  Children are invited to join the parade – come along in Viking dress, bring your own handmade shield or pop along to the Mobile Library Van by the Salmon Bothy on Saturday morning to make one before the parade.  Prizes for best dressed and best shield, kindly sponsored by NorthLink Ferries.  No need to book, just meet at 2pm at the Wally Green.

Viking Torch-Lit Parade Advice for torch bearers

Viking Torch-Lit Parade, Saturday 22nd June, 7.30pm Loch Soy.

In an exciting participative event, you can join the Vikings in a torch-lit parade around the streets of Portsoy! Leaving Loch Soy at 7.30pm, the procession will make its way through the town, led by our Viking squad and Portsoy Pipe Band, culminating in the burning of a wooden boat at The Links.

And you can join in!  Over 16s are invited to purchase a torch at cost of £10, which will be lit and then carried by you as part of the procession.  Get your family and friends together to create your own mini squad and come along in fancy dress (optional but fun!), just like the Shetlanders do for Up Helly Aa!  Torches are limited and will be issued in advance on a first come first serve basis.

To reserve your torch, please visit the Festival Ticket & Information Office on Seafield Street Portsoy from Saturday 15th June onwards.  All proceeds from sale of torches go towards The Scottish Traditional Boat Festival.

Ceilidh with The Vikings, Saturday 22nd June, 8.30pm – Late, Portsoy Town Hall  ***  SOLD OUT  ***

Come and enjoy a family friendly ceilidh with the Vikings!  Music by The McBain Band.  Bring your own bottle.  A joint fundraiser between The Scottish Traditional Boat Festival and Portsoy Pipe Band.  Tickets are limited; Adults £8 & Children £5.  This event is now sold out.
